Laughter Is Good Medicine!

Did you ever think of how important it is to keep a person's spirits up while they are in the hospital? Actually, there is a scientific reason for this. Scientist suggest that people who have joyful spirits are more likely to recovery from illnesses than those who have somber attitudes.

According to the American Cancer Society and other medical experts, laughter has been found to reduce stress and promotes relaxation by lowering blood pressure; in addition, it improves breathing and increases muscle function.
In two large medical studies, it was discovered that patients who watched funny videos during certain painful procedures were more relaxed and tolerated the pain longer. It also found that cancer patients had less pain and slept better after such entertainment.

In Korea, laughter therapy is becoming a regular part of the treatment regiment for cancer patients.
In one article, it was stated that most cancer patients have some period of mental depression and laughing has a significant therapeutic value, according to doctors. Studies have shown that the effects of laughter on the body start with blood vessels expanding, which stimulates circulation. After laughing, blood sugar levels drop and the action helps promote comfortable sleep. It also boosts the level of serotonin that provides calming actions in the brain and body, and the level of dopamine linked with feelings of happiness

The Bible states that: "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. -Proverbs 17:22. So laugh, and laugh alot... Life is too short to be unhappy and who knows, you may even live longer by laughing more!
